Why is my WIP reconciliation report suddenly WAY out of balance?
Quick Answer
A non-WIP account is set as a job's WIP account.
Overview
When viewing your Work in Progress (WIP) analysis report (SA3487), you may notice a large difference between your Net WIP balance (the total amount for your WIP transactions) and your account balance.
This can be caused by having a non-WIP account set as a job’s WIP account. The result is that not all transactions in the account are WIP transactions and this can lead to a large discrepancy.
How do I fix this?
- Enter the affected account number into the WIP account code filter and select Don't group, show full details.
- Re-run the report to locate the Job codes that have this account set as a WIP account.
- Navigate to the Job codes identified above and select the Setup tab.
- Select Edit and update the Work in progress account details to the correct WIP account.
- Navigate to each transaction that was processed while the previous account was set and select Edit then Update to reprocess them.
